When did you join ProRisk? What were you doing beforehand?
I joined ProRisk back in 2012, fresh out of high school on a casual basis while I was completing my Diploma of Beauty. As much as I loved the beauty industry, I quickly learnt that I enjoyed receiving treatments more than performing them. My beauty knowledge was also the driving influence for my insurance career in the allied health space. My early time at ProRisk taught me there was more to insurance than car and home covers, and that there was a lot of value in applying my beauty industry knowledge to insurance. I learnt a lot from starting out as an allied health underwriter – there’s always something interesting happening!

What’s your role at ProRisk and what does a typical day look like for you?
My role at ProRisk has certainly progressed a long way. At the moment I look after our admin and support team, ProConnect. We provide high value support for our brokers and our underwriters. On a typical day at ProRisk, I can wear many different hats. These can include managing the ProConnect team, underwriting, managing key relationships, and most recently, supporting brokers with our new online trading platform ProBind. Variety always makes for a fast paced and interesting day!

What drives you to do the best you can?
The people I work with, helping brokers with a ProRisk solution and winning their business all drive me to do my best.

In your opinion, what makes ProRisk special or unique in comparison to other underwriting agencies?
We’re one of Australia’s longest running underwriting agencies. We have a great selection of products, plus our team is nimble and able to adapt to the changing needs of brokers and their clients. Our new platform ProBind makes it even easier for brokers to work with us and we also run a regular webinar series where we take the time to explain our product offerings.

What’s something you’ve had to adapt to or learn how to do different due to COVID-19?
Being a people person and a leader, I’ve had to adapt to being with people online rather than face to face. I’ve always been lucky to work in a great and supportive team environment, but I’ve had to learn new ways of continuing that team support in a virtual environment.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I had my first taste of fame when I went under the knife as the youngest person in Australia to have keyhole surgery. This lead to a five minute piece on Channel 9 news.
